Alcohol can harm the liver , whose job it is to break down harmful substances in the body. But I wouldn’t say that alcohol can permanently damage your brain but many long term effects of alcohol use can cause permanent damage to the brain as well as to various organs. The symptoms can be severe and can damage brain cells.
