Rolling Stones biography

The Rolling Stones is a rock band born in 1962 in London. The Rolling Stones is originally composed of 4 members: Mick Jagger (singer) and Keith Richards (guitarist): the two leaders, Brian Jones (guitarist) and Ian Stewart (pianist). But they are quickly joined by bassist and drummer, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts respectively. Their name comes from the title Rollin Stone’s blue by Muddy Waters.

A meteoric rise

The Rolling Stones officially appeared on stage for the first time in 1962 and quickly became references to rock’n’roll, despite their very blues inspiration, and therefore competed with the Beatles, whose journey was somewhat similar. In opposition to the latter, they adopt a quirky bad boy attitude and put on a real show on stage that makes them gain notoriety.

They started out in London clubs before recording their first 45 laps, the title Come on taken from singer Chuck Berry. From there, the group takes off until it becomes essential. After experiencing glory in the UK, the Rolling Stones set out to conquer America. Their first hit arrives in 1965, it is the famous Satisfaction which makes them known worldwide, and their second is Paint it Black, contained in the album Aftermath which is released the following year, written by the now inseparable Jagger and Richards. Then hit tubes and albums, including the song Jumping jack Flash which is number one in many countries.

Difficulties linked to the setbacks of group members

Unfortunately, not everything is rosy. In 1969 the original founder, Brian Jones was found dead in his swimming pool, only a month after being excluded from the group for his drug problems (officially to pursue a solo career). He was replaced by Mick Taylor until 1974, the time of five albums. The Rolling Stones then created its own label, which has become a real global brand (mouth sticking out its tongue).

From the 1970s, the Rolling Stones went bad and disappointed for several reasons and even thought of parting, fortunately the title Angie would prevent them. But the Stones leave their record company Decca, Keith Richards becomes addicted to drugs and his friend Mick Jagger in luxury, frequenting in particular the pretty singer Marianne Faithfull.

The biggest rock band in history

In 1978, the album Some girls marked the return of success, then the title Start me up made them follow concerts around the world, ever more impressive. This period unfortunately does not last insofar as the members of The Rolling Stones take out in turn a solo album and Charlie Watts records with a new jazz group. However, The Rolling Stones decide in 1989 to make a new album: Steel Wheels which is number one in many countries of the world, which encourages them to make yet another: Voodoo Lounge in 1994 which sells for six million copies. Between world tours, gigantic successful concerts and an impressive turnover, The Rolling Stones are not ready to stop.
