Bonsoir

where is India ?

India is in South East Asia. Its main boarders are Pakistan on the western side, Bangladesh on the eastern side and Nepal on the North side.

je n'ai cité que les frontières principales....

What is the capital of India.
New-Delhi is the capital of India.

What are the main cities ?

On the western coast, there is Mumbai which is the largest city. it was called Bombay before because the  Portuguese nicknamed it "Bom Bahia". It was also a great place for Indian Cinema industry ; the Bollywood movies.

Bangalore is in the south center of India and has a very fast economic growth in technology.

Calcutta, named now Kolkata, is the third largest city. next to the Ganges river. it has a very important place in Hinduism beliefs.

South west from New Delhi, Jaipur is the main city of Rajasthan, the pink city, where the maharadjahs were once owners of beautiful palaces.

On the East coast, Chennai (called Madras before) is the capital of the Tamil Nadu state on the coast of the bay on Bengal. South of Chennai is Puducherry or Pondicherry  which was a French Indian territory (comptoir français)

What is the main religion ?

Hinduism remains the main religion, followed by Islam and Christianity (on South India mainly). But there are lots of other religion as Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism (in Rajasthan)...  and more

Do you know th Holi Festival ? (fête des couleurs)

Holi celebrates Khrishna and the arrival of Spring.

It's really very popular. people throw coloured powders at every one and then buckets of water so every one gets very colorful from hair to toes and as the colour pigments  are very strong, you'll be coloured for more than a day!
