Bonjour
je dois faire un enregistrement sur un livre français ou un film
Give its title, author or film director

Present the main characters (names, ages, jobs, etc…)

Sum up what happened to them in the book or the film (imagine I know nothing about it. Make it clear so I don’t have any doubt or question)

Explain why you liked it or not
(use the adjectives we studied at the beginning of the year
+ vocabulary to express your opinion)

Would you recommend it or not? Explain

Sagot :

bonjour

voici un exemple:

The book I read recently is the CID. The author is Pierre Corneille

The book appeared in 1937

The characters:

・ Don Rodrigue (Rodrigue), son of Don Diegue and lover of Chimen. Cid is a nickname of war which will only be recalled in Acts IV and V and only by the King and the Infanta.

・ Chimen, daughter of Don Gomès and mistress of don Sanche and don Rodrigue, whom she is also a lover.

・ Don Gomès (the Count), Count of Gormas and Father of Chimen.

・ Don Diegue [de Bivar], father of Don Rodrigue.

・ Doña Urraque (the Infanta), Infanta de Castilla [secretly in love with Rodrigue].

・ Don Fernand, first King of Castilla.

・ Don Sanche, a lover of Chimen.

・ Elvire, the ruler of Chimen

・ Léonor, the Infanta's ruler.

・ Don Arias and Don Alonse, Castilian gentilshomans

The book summary:

Don Diegre and the Count of Gomès have decided to unite their children Rodrigue and Chimène who love each other. But the Count, jealous of his preference for the old Don Diegue for the position of preceptor of the prince, offends the prince by giving him a bellow. Don Diegue, weakened by age and too old to take revenge for himself, puts his vengeance in the hands of his son Rodrigue, who, torn between his love and his duty, ends up listening to the voice of blood and killing Chimen's father in a duel. Chimen tries to deny his love and hide it from the king, to whom she asks the head of Rodrigue. But the attack on the kingdom by the Moors gives Rodrigue the opportunity to prove his worth and obtain the king's forgiveness. More than ever in love with Rodrigue, who became a national hero, Chimen remains on his position and gets a duel from the king between Don Sanche who also loves him and Rodrigue. She promises to marry the winner. Victorious Rodrigue receives the king's hand from Chimen: the marriage will be celebrated within one year.

What an incredible piece, all in verses that give such a pleasant rhythm to reading. The consciousness of the protagonists is deep, powerful. The replicas are finely worked and the sounds very pleasant. What a reading! I was completely absorbed and had a little trouble getting out of it once the last page was turned. The play features Don Rodrigue and his love for Chimen, but their story does not lead to a wonderful idyllic, because the young man's father's honor has been violated. Such an affront cannot go unpunished, but the task will fall to the son, the father being too old to do so. Unfortunately, this state of affairs will put Don Rodrigue in a very delicate position, torn between love and honor that both matter to him, he knows that no matter what his choice, nothing good will result from it. He must act, but in one case he will lose Chimen, in the other he will be dishonored... Cruel destiny.

Through a few monologs by Don Rodrigue, one can powerfully understand the seriousness of this sad situation. His words are strong and I was seized by the depth of his dismay. He is aware of his state, he knows that he must act, no matter the consequences.

We will also follow what his life will become after his decision and how he became "the Cid". I won't say more, I let you discover this powerful and beautifully rhythmic masterpiece and I recommend it for those who are passionate about tragedy and unraveling.
