FINAL TASK
Write a short poem about
Harlem and recite it.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance, associations
from the neighbourhood are organising a poetry competition. Take part in
this competition: write a short poem to celebrate Harlem, then recite it in
front of the jury.
1 Choose an aspect of Harlem: history, famous person, landmark, community spirit,
art, success story.
2 Think of the message you would like to convey through your poem.
3 The element you have chosen will be the speaker of your poem:
imagine what he/she/it would say and take notes.
Write your poem, sharing your impressions and feelings.
Learn your own poem by heart, then recite it in class.
